We were blessed with a warm, sunny day after a cloudy start.The 60 players were able to start their games on time and the games proceeded smoothly apart from some players wanting spreads rather than aggregates to apply to their results. I have been told that because the computer was programmed for wins, Peter the computer operator needed a disk which was not available and so these people were disappointed. We have to thank Peter who had to help us out at the last minute as the computer operator, because our treasurer Ray Legge who was the computer operator last year had to pull out of this job this time because of illness.
It was unfortunate that the Oatley Club was having difficulties with their air conditioning and the room was at times uncomfortably warm. In spite of this we hope all our players enjoyed their day. We did not have our usual large number of contestants this year but we understand that some players were saving themselves for the October championships some away on holidays, some ill and others may have been attending the Baulkham Hills free day to get serious play.
We have to thank The Bakers Delight Bread shop in Oatley for their generous donation of eight $8.00 vouchers and bread bags, also C and B Gourmet shop Oatley for the chocolate cakes. The St George Bank Oatley had promised us some of their pens. These unfortunately were out of stock at this time but when we get them we will let Robin Duncan have them for the use of tournament players.We also thank the Oatley R.S.L.Club for their support and assistance once again.
