With the family decamped to Lillyfield, the house was ready for the annual onslaught of Scrabblers. And a fine day it was. With a diminished field of 12, including the 3 Richards from WA, we were able to complete the 15 games in record time. As requested, we finished in time to view the final episode of Pride and Prejudice at 8.30!
The action was too swift to really notice any brilliant moves. Suffice it to report that the incumbent president (Bob Jackman) came first on 11 games. John (sometimes a bridesmaid) Holgate came second and Joanne (fresh from her Parramatta triumph) Craig ran third.
Peter Shaw had a disappointing day, made worse by a fall down the stairs after answering a call of nature. Many of the regulars still have vivid memories of his fall in the spa some years ago. We wish Peter a speedy recovery. (Must check my public liability insurance!).
Looking forward to next year.
