A couple of notable nines reported were Mark Smith's WITHDRAWs around AW in D Division (scoring 92), and John Holgate's UPLEADING around AD in A Division. The highest play of the day came from D Division where Joy Morris scored 140 for students.
In B Division, Judy McGuinness and Donna MacDonald played themselves into eligibility for the Winter Masters in two weeks time at Revesby by scaling the 1300 barrier.
A veritable flood of rotating boards entered the NSW Scrabble scene with 14 of the 18 brought back from Bangkok being snapped up by players. Betty Foreman got the best deal by winning hers in the raffle. The other four are accounted for so those who missed out will have to wait for another opportunity.
A group of hardy players migrated to the downstairs area of the club for a few extra games and general postmortems, with the hardiest eight of us (down from the original 20 showing interest) waiting the full two hours for an enjoyable meal at Chatswood's Gourmet Pizza Kitchen. Our thanks go the Richard 'The Hub' Birch for organising that part of the days proceedings.
