Richard and Angie Farrington returned to the tournament circuit after about a year's absence. For those that have read this far, Richard can be seen on 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' this coming Monday night (the 20th). You'll see what happens when Eddie asks him the question directly "What does the L in LPG stand for?"
In Masters, Peter Shaw travelled through unscathed to record an emphatic victory. It was his first tournament win since July 1992 when he took out the North Shore Round Robin. In Advanced it was my good wife Liz who prevailed narrowly over Michael Adler from Canberra, while in Intermediate Maureen Hilder from Woy Woy club notched up an impressive win. In Recreation KC Johnson emulated the feats of his friend, Ian Hoffman, both from Queensland, in recording a first-up tournament victory. I have a feeling we will be hearing a lot more of these two.
The McGiffen boys, Lee and Craig, did a fine job directing and computer operating respectively. The only contentious ruling occurred when George Khamis (who was banned from telling jokes for the day) lost a game due to his clock being only a few milliseconds over the gradation. Sorry, George! and thanks to Jean for her enthusiastic organisation of this event, as always.
